A Guide to Cooking Roti Prata

Roti Prata, a popular breakfast dish in Singapore, is originially a traditional South Indian food.  It is somehow comparable to a fried pancake that you cook over a level grill.  More often than not, Singaporeans eat Roti Prata with banana, chocolate, cheese, egg, mushroom, onion, vegetables, or meat-based curry, amongst many others.

Furthermore, Roti Prata is a traditional dish in the countries of India, Malaysia, and Singapore.  For instance, the Singaporean dish is known as Parantha or Prata in India, and Roti Canai in Malaysia.  Each country has a distinct version of the dish, and its way of cooking Roti Prata has been influenced by its taste and food history.

For instance, in Singapore, the dough of the dish is principally composed of egg, fat, flour, and water, and is commonly served with curry.  Despite the fact that Roti Prata is a favorite dish among Singaporeans, there is still a level of mystery about the dish, since its procedure of cooking may seem difficult for one to do at home, particularly the flipping of the dough.

However, if you will try to learn how to cook the dish, you will realize that it is easier than you think, and that you can do it anytime at your own place.  In order for you to make a six inch-wide Roti Prata, you will need the following ingredients – 100 grams of sugar, 100 grams of melted margarine, 500 grams of sifted plain flour, 2 tablespoons of milk, water, oil, and rolling pin.

Firstly, you need to combine and mix the flour and sugar in a bowl.  You need to make a well in the middle of the bowl, and put the margarine and milk afterward.  Subsequently, massage the combined ingredients, and add water until you form soft dough.  It is advisable that you leave the dough at rest for a minimum of 2 hours, though you should evenly lubricate its surface with oil in order to prevent it from drying off.

After 2 hours, split the dough into six balls, and massage each piece as necessary.  In order to level and compress the balls, use a rolling pin, and use your hands in extending the dough as thin as possible.  Consequently, crease the rims of the dough inward, and create a square-shaped pie from it.

Lastly, cook the dough on an oiled grill or a frying pan until it turns into golden brown on both sides.  Know that you may eat the dish in any way that you prefer – be it adding egg, fruits, ice cream, or sugar.

Bill’s is a perfect solid place for BBQs in Arizona. The breakfasts are way more mouth-watering and actually, extremely cheap. Bill Johnson’s is inexpensive and easy! We keep going back because it’s fills the belly without emptying the wallet. The menu had a good variety of choices; you can select burgers, sandwiches, salads, and bigger plates, if you like. Their lunch special menu was a fair deal. The burger was very good and I liked the cobbler was excellent.

I know Bill Johnson’s is legendary for its barbeque, but its breakfast can’t be beat. They’ve got one of the finest country style breakfasts. Great portions, delicious, and awfully satisfying. I presumed the hash browns were excellent you can’t fail with their breakfast. It’s the best place to bring out of towners who want to eat at a cowboy type AZ place. We were especially impressed with the freshness of each starter / appetizers. The nosh was great as was the service. Our waitress was glorious

Can’t even tell you how much I love @BillJohnsonsAZ!

I have been going there since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, and they have not disappointed me. Pulled pork, beef brisket, and hot links, is the perfect combo, to get a little taste of everything that is amazing about Giant Apple.

The atmosphere alone would keep me coming back, time after time , sawdust on the floor, western decor ( including miniature covered lorry lamps ), and the waiters and waitresses are all packing heat, in the form of a .44 on their hips.

Used to be they could draw the guns, but now they are bolted to the holster. Sad reflection on the regression our society has gone through, that a prop must be secured “for the public safety”.

They’ve a heavenly apple pie pudding, which is properly served with US citizens cheese. I personally prefer it with a scoop of vanilla. And don’t think they’re only about lunch or dinner; they have got a great breakfast menu. They also have M-F 6-11 AM specials, including a homemade cinnamon roll.

I’ve been to Massive Apple more times than I’ll count, and I’ll return again.
And again.

Fool-proof Wine Values
It is a best place to eat Italian food in Ventura Blvd Restaurants in California. Best Gnocchi I ever had! I drive from Thousand Oaks for my Gnocchi and the Chicken Marsala is pretty flavorsome too. I gave it 5 stars because La Finestra it is one the top eateries in Ventura Blvd.

I lately bought a Groupon online for La Finestra and decided to try this place out with the old lady while she was in the town visiting for the weekend.

This place is truly lovable. Very clean, crisp, easy and understated. We had the Insalada Rustica—which was SO fresh and crisp. One of the best salads I have had in a while. The produce was actually fresh–like NOTICEABLY amazingly fresh. Extremely clean (no dirt) and gently dressed, which I appreciate. There’s little worse than a salad swimming in dressing!

We also had the angel hair pasta with tomatoes and basil (straightforward but good) and the home-made spinach and ricotta ravioli with pink sauce which was Incredible. Awfully tasty indeed.

For dessert we shared the apple tarte (which was better than most that I have had) it consisted of a really thin chewy crust with layers of paper thin apples baked on top, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream. And of course, I can not forget the tiramisu. OMG. Extraordinary. The marscapone and creme were so light; I swear it felt as though I was eating a cloud. Just the correct amount of sweetness–and so smooth. I had the most splendidly satisfied and happy palete when I was done. A truly stuffed feeling with a lingering sweetness—one that I’ve only experienced once before, after a wonderfully easy meal in Venice (Italy, not California) that also ended with a creamy and smooth tiramisu.

It really had the warm, homie feeling of a family multinational. All the servers and staff were warm and pleasant! It was great to feel a bit like we could stay so long as we wanted–and just enjoy our meal.

The only minor complaint I may have that keeps me from giving it five stars would be the service, towards the end of our meal was bit slow. We had to actively look for and flag down our (very friendly and awesome) server. But that was perhaps thanks to the fact that things in the eateries were reasonably busy by the end of the night. Maybe they are definitely a bit under staffed? But over all, a great experience. My mouth and my stomach (and my Mom) were all happy when we left.
