Cooking For Children Guide

Cooking for kids can be a challenge, especially if you have a picky eater. Most parents want to ensure that their children eat a variety of healthy foods but, given a choice, kids usually prefer junk foods instead. The following ideas may make your job a little easier.

Prepare simple foods. Kids often have low tolerance for strong or mixed flavors and are more likely to accept plain foods. Fresh fruits and vegetables or mild cheese are often welcomed.

Serve small portions, especially for younger children. Too much food on a plate can be overwhelming. With just a few bites of each food, kids will be more likely to try new things.

Give kids choices. Have a couple of options available whenever possible. Ask kids if they want their eggs scrambled or fried. Let them decide between syrup or jam on their pancakes. Let them choose to eat the vegetable or the salad rather than insisting that they eat both.

Allow them to try just one bite without negative consequences. And keep in mind that as children get older, their tastes and preferences may change.

Make food fun. Invent kid-friendly names for various dishes, such as Superman Stew or Scary Dairy Surprise. Names that sound icky for foods that taste great go a long way towards getting your children to try unfamiliar dishes in the future.

Hide nutritious food. Puree winter squash and mix into the mashed potatoes. Add powdered milk to cookie recipes or hot cereal to boost calcium intake.

Cook with the kids. Letting your children help you prepare the food will encourage them to eat it at mealtime. Letting kids prepare their own food often ensures success with even the pickiest eater.

Homemade pizza provides the perfect opportunity for children to learn about basic nutrition while having fun. Just supply a variety of healthy toppings and let them create a masterpiece either for themselves or to share with the whole family.

How To Choose A Children Piano Toy

Article by John Fisher

The best way to inspire a child to enjoy making music is to give him or her a piano toy. Though it is still considered a toy, this piano can serve a very important purpose in your child’s life and be a very valuable possession.

A piano toy for children can be found in an abundance of colors, designs and shapes, therefore choosing the best one will depend on both the age of the child in question as well as the level of his or her interest in learning how to play. Piano toys abound in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. From simple keyboards to more complex designs, piano toys give children the opportunity to make beautiful music! There is a wide variety of children’s toy pianos available; from simple keyboards to miniature full pianos.

Children’s toy pianos are also typically made with oversized keyboards whose keys might or might not be colored. This varies from a few keys to more than a dozen available on a large piano. Pianos for this age group are not made with the expectation of producing eloquent music, but are made to specifically introduce a child to the look, sound and feel of a piano. This toy can be used alone or in combination with other objects or with the baby’s bed and can withstand a lot of rough handling. A children’s piano toy, designed specifically with the very young in mind, generally comes with lots of full sized keys.

This piano may look and seem like the type that is made for babies however, they are generally a bit bigger and more closely resemble a standard sized adult piano. They might come with a bench, or lay flat on the floor. And, the larger ones could make more sophisticated musical melodies. The only difference between regular pianos and Schoenhuts is that with the latter, the music is usually generated via steel bars rather than by traditional piano wire.

Young children who have curiosity about mastering the piano will often have a lifetime love of music. If your child is over 8 years old, you would be wise to look at the bigger and more complex toy pianos on the market. As far as look and playability are concerned, an excellent children piano toy is similar to the larger models. Designed in the same manner as standard pianos, these pianos have full-sized keys that are spaced in the same manner. The keyboard is half the size of the standard piano and there are more keys. In general, music is made using hammers and steel rods or wires.

Most models have matching benches, and some will even let you lift the lid like concert baby grands do; what a great experience for your child! The enormous selection of children toy pianos guarantees that all youngsters can find the right piano for them.

At best, your child will love his or her toy piano and develop a passion for music. At worst, your child won’t play it at all; it’ll become just another piece of furniture. Regardless of your specific situation, buying your child a toy piano will not be a bad choice; it may even spark a new interest in them! Your child just might have a great future as a piano virtuoso!
